Olive Martina Christensen Grout Was born in may 1924 the youngest child of Ethel(Liscombe)and William Grout. Olive had two brothers and three sisters although losing her sister Ethel at age 4yrs in road traffic accident. Olive went on to marry in later years my father John Watson and had my two brothers then me. My mother lost her eldest grandson John Alan aged 20yrs in 1988, followed by my father in 1993, then her Grandaughter Natalie Rachel Watson aged 18 yrs in April 2000. This finaly took its toll on her health. Depression set in badly then she moved home had two falls whilst being cared for fractured a rib and broke her hip. If that wasnt bad enough she was admitted to South tyneside General where she contracted the MRSA bug. She was later moved into what we thought looked a well run care home in Monkton Jarrow. Unfortunately it wasnt she was now bedridden and was suffering with dementia. She relied on the staff to take care of her, we found on one occasion she had been left to give herself her medication, she was wearing it when I got there. Two many times she seemed dehydrated lack of drinks. Then she suffered a stroke and was admitted to hospital. They found her to have very bad bed sores, dehydration as well as a stroke. In hospital she seemed to pick up a little then after a week she started getting worse. I thought at first she would slip away on my daughters memory but she held out. I sat at her bedside and told her not to worry just for her to go home to the spirit world. I knew her loved ones where waiting for her. I know she was a great believer and it seemed to show on her face when I told her to go home and that she didnt have to worry about our family, and to think of herself now. I sat all that day talking to her watching her eyes and her fighting for breath. My brothers stayed at the night with her then they left early hours.I recieved the call at seven the next morning asking for us to go back to the hospital. When I arrived I passed the nursing station and went to the ward. The curtains were round the bed and I went in and she was asleep with the blankets neatly tucked in. A nurse was busy tidying sheets and was startled to see me for a minute. The expression on her face told me and I knew then my Mother had died. No one had told me or stopped me going in to her. I realised the date and it was the 27th of April this was the date four years ago we had my daughters funeral. It seemed greatly significant as the number 27 was the date of two family births and my fathers death. I had the greatest respect for My mother she was a loving kind person who would give anyone her last penny. She always worked in the caring profession. Worked many years in a childrens home and treat the children with Love and Respect. Standing up to the staff that abused their power and reported them after having a full blown out showdown with them. My mother believed that these children deserved the best and needed above all love. My father always said that her wages went back into the childrens home on the children. Many years after she turned down the chance to run the home as Matron. The Brough homes was moving to another area and because of my fathers work commitments My mother turned down the job. The children still came by our home long after my mother left they looked forward to visiting my mother and she felt the same. My mother went on to be a carer for people in their own homes that needed work done, cleaning , shopping, support this continued until she retired early due to having to look after my disabled father. My mother loved and supported her family through good times and bad times and did her best for us all.
I miss her beyond words but I know she is happier now in heaven with her family in spirit. God Bless Mam xxxx Love eternally Elizabeth, Stephen, Tina, Courtney,Butch our dog and your great grandaughter Charli xxxx

Listen With Your Heart

Listen With Your Heart
Memories are like treasures
time cannot take away.
So may we be surrounded
by happy ones today.
May all the love and tenderness
of golden days and years well spent
Come back today to fill our hearts
with beauty and content.
And may we walk down memory lane
and meet the ones we love,
For while we cannot see them,
they'll be watching from above....
So, for their sakes, be happy
and show them that their love
Has proven strong enough and big enough
to reach down from above.

Forever Young
May the good Lord be with you
Down every road you roam
And may sunshine and happiness
surround you when you're far from home
And may you grow to be proud
Dignified and true
And do unto others
As you'd have done to you
Be courageous and be brave
And in my heart you'll always stay
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young, Forever Young

May good fortune be with you
May your guiding light be strong
Build a stairway to heaven
with a prince or a vagabond

And may you never love in vain
and in my heart you will remain
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young
Forever Young

And when you finally fly away
I'll be hoping that I served you well
For all the wisdom of a lifetime
No one can ever tell

But whatever road you choose
I'm right behind you, win or lose
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young ,Forever Young
Forever Young, Forever Young
For, Forever Young, Forever Young

all my love theresa xxx
